It is proposed a system for controlling fuel vapor recovery through a venting line connecting a fuel tank (12) with a filter unit (18), the system comprising: a sensor (40) configured for obtaining detection data regarding the presence of liquid fuel; the sensor being arranged for detecting liquid fuel in the venting line or in the vehicle tank near the venting line; an isolation valve (20) arranged in the venting line; and a controller (14) configured for controlling the isolation valve (20) based on detection data from the sensor (40).
