DRUM BRAKE FOR A VEHICLE AND BRAKE PAD PAIR FOR A DRUM BRAKE
DRIVE
July 6, 2016
A drum brake for a vehicle is proposed comprising - a brake drum mounted on a rotation axis (A), - a brake shield (3) arranged fixed to the axle, - a first brake shoe (1) which is arranged to be movable in the circumferential direction and is provided with a friction lining (11) extending over a circumferential section, as well as a second brake shoe (2) which is arranged to be movable in the circumferential direction and is provided with a friction lining (12) extending over a circumferential section, - a spreading device (5) which can be actuated by a brake actuator (6), preferably a brake cable, and which is supported with a first pressure piece (21) against the first end (1A) of the first brake shoe (1) and with a second pressure piece (22) against the first end (2A) of the second brake shoe (2), - a spring (10) acting on the second brake shoe (2) against the spreading device (5), - a reverse drive automatic system for at least partially relieving the braking effect during reverse travel of the vehicle. In order to combine the function of a reverse drive automatic system with the possibility of a weight-saving and compact design, the brake shield (3) is provided, to limit the movability of the brake shoes (1, 2) in the circumferential direction, with a first stop (51) for supporting the first brake shoe end (1A) of the first brake shoe (1) during reverse travel (R) and with a second stop (52) for supporting the first brake shoe end (2A) of the second brake shoe (2) during forward travel (V). A push element (4) which is freely movable relative to the brake shield (3) rests with a first support (41) articulately against the second end (1B) of the first brake shoe (1) and with a second support (42) articulately against the second brake shoe (2).
