The invention relates to an exhaust heat exchanger (1) for transferring heat between the exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle and a coolant. The exhaust heat exchanger (1) has a housing (6) with connections (7, 8) for the supply and discharge of coolant. According to the invention, a coolant connection (7, 8) is formed by a pipe section (13), which has a joining surface (16) formed on its outer circumference (15) for attachment to the housing (6) of the exhaust heat exchanger (1) and has a transfer opening (19) oriented transversely to the longitudinal axis (LA) of the pipe section (13), which communicates with a passage opening (9, 10) in the housing (6).
