According to the invention, a traffic situation detection device (11) is provided by means of which a future traffic situation of the vehicle (1) is detected and/or identified. Upon detection of at least one defined future traffic situation by means of the traffic situation detection device (11), the control and/or regulating device (3) automatically increases or decreases at a defined point in time (t1, t3, t6), temporally prior to the defined future traffic situation, at least one speed limit value (7, 9) set by the driver in dependence on the defined future traffic situation. Temporally, at the latest after the defined future traffic situation, the control and/or regulating device (3) then automatically restores the increased or decreased speed limit value (7, 9) to the speed limit value (7, 9) set by the driver.",
