Spring accumulator brake actuator with a pressure rod (12) that can be coupled to a brake member on a brake, an energy storage device (14) that is designed to exert a braking force on the pressure rod (12) via a coupling mechanism (26, 38, 28), a drive that is designed to hold the pressure rod (12) against the force of the energy storage device (14) in a brake release position, and an auxiliary release device (58) with which the transmission of the braking force from the energy storage device (14) to the pressure rod (12) can be blocked independently of the drive, characterized in that the coupling mechanism has two coupling members (26, 28) which are in engagement with one another via a jaw coupling (38), and in that the auxiliary release device (58) has an actuating member (60) which is designed to bring the jaws of the jaw coupling (38) into a disengaged position in a direction of movement transverse to the force transmission direction.
