The general field of the invention is that of synthetic visualization systems for vehicles, said vehicle having a determined navigation direction. The system according to the invention comprises at least: - a cartographic database representative of the terrain traveled by the vehicle, - means for geolocating said vehicle, - electronic means making it possible to calculate a representation of the main parameters of said vehicle; - graphic generation means making it possible to generate a three-dimensional synthetic representation of said terrain; and - a display device displaying said three-dimensional synthetic representation in a determined field of vision (FOV) and in a determined display direction, - adjustment means making it possible to adjust the display direction in a direction different from the determined navigation direction of the vehicle, said adjustment means being manual or automatic, the display direction then being a function of a piloting or navigation parameter.
