The invention relates to a fuel injector (10), in particular a common-rail injector for compression-ignition internal combustion engines, with a valve piece (16) in which a drain bore (24) with a drain throttle (26) is formed, via which a control chamber (20) can be pressure-relieved to a low-pressure region, wherein the valve piece (16) can be clamped axially against a holding body (12) by means of a valve clamping screw (50). According to the invention, it is provided that the valve piece (16) is at least partially radially encompassed by a clamping element (55), which is designed to generate a radially acting pressure force on the valve piece (16).
