A pneumatic tire is disclosed having a radially outer tread (700, 800, 900). The tread has a plurality of circumferential grooves (710, 910), a plurality of lateral grooves (720, 820), and a plurality of shoulder grooves (730, 830). The bottom and the sides, only the bottom or only the sides of each circumferential groove (710, 910) are textured. Furthermore, the bottom and the sides, only the bottom or only the sides of each lateral groove (720, 820) are textured and the bottom and the sides, only the bottom or only the sides of each shoulder groove (730, 830) are textured.
