METHOD FOR OPERATING A FUEL TANK DEVICE FOR A MOTOR VEHICLE AND CORRESPONDING FUEL TANK DEVICE

The invention relates to a method for operating a fuel tank device (1) for a motor vehicle, wherein the fuel tank device (1) comprises a fuel tank (2) with a surge tank (4), to which a suction side of a fuel pump (3) is connected. It is provided that, when a fuel level of the fuel tank (2) is below a specified minimum fill level, a geodetic orientation of the fuel tank (2) is determined by means of at least one sensor, a fueling characteristic value is read from a characteristic map based on the geodetic orientation and is displayed by means of a signal device. The invention further relates to a fuel tank device (1) for a motor vehicle.
