The invention relates to a method for controlling a drivetrain during a starting procedure of a motor vehicle, wherein the motor vehicle comprises an engine, a transmission and an automatically actuated clutch. The invention further relates to a control system for the drivetrain during starting of such a motor vehicle. The method comprises determining a current setpoint value of a quantity that changes as a function of an energy input into the clutch generated by slip during the starting procedure, determining a profile of an actual value of the quantity during the starting procedure of the motor vehicle, and increasing the engine speed when the actual value of the quantity has exceeded the current setpoint value by a predetermined offset value.
