The invention relates to a force measuring device, in particular for measuring the hysteresis of the clamping and release movement in motor vehicle disc brakes. The force measuring device (100) comprises a uniaxial force sensor (1) and means for compensating for lateral and tilting movements relative to the measurement axis of the force sensor. The means (10) for compensating for lateral and tilting movements comprise a compensation element (3) on which the force sensor (1) is supported directly or indirectly via a first curved sliding surface (2a). A side (3a) of the compensation element (3) facing the force sensor (1) is designed as a second curved sliding surface (3a), into which the first curved sliding surface (2a) engages to compensate for a tilting movement relative to the measurement axis, wherein the first curved sliding surface (2a) and the second curved sliding surface (3a) have the same curvature and rest against one another in a sliding and displaceable manner over their surfaces. Furthermore, a side (3b) of the compensation element (3) facing away from the force sensor (1) has a planar sliding surface (3b) which, to compensate for a lateral movement, is mounted in a sliding and displaceable manner on a planar contact sliding surface (4a) transverse to the measurement axis.
