A distance measurement arrangement (100) is provided, comprising a transmitting unit (110) for emitting infrared, IR, light towards a reference device (200), a receiving unit (120) for receiving IR light reflected from the reference device (200), wherein the receiving unit (120) is configured for receiving a first IR signal and a second IR signal, wherein the distance measurement arrangement (100) is configured for determining a distance (S) between the distance measurement arrangement (100) and the reference device (200) based on the relative intensities of said first and second IR signal, which exhibit different dependencies on the distance to be measured. Further, an air spring for a vehicle is provided, wherein the air spring comprises such a distance measurement device which is configured for determining a working stroke of the air spring.
