DEVICE AND METHOD FOR SUPPORTING A DRIVER OF A VEHICLE, IN PARTICULAR A COMMERCIAL VEHICLE

The invention relates to a method for supporting a driver of a vehicle, in particular a commercial vehicle, wherein a speed control system (11) is provided, by means of which the speed of the vehicle (3) can be automatically controlled and/or adjusted. According to the invention, the speed control system (11) is coupled in data-transmitting manner with an information device (19, 21) which has speed information regarding a road section (1) currently and/or in the future to be traveled. By means of the speed control system (11), it is determined whether the vehicle (3) controlled by means of the speed control system (11) complies with speed regulations applicable on the road section (1) currently and/or in the future. If the vehicle (3) does not comply with the applicable speed regulations, the speed of the vehicle (3) is automatically changed by means of the speed control system (11) taking into account the applicable speed regulations and/or the driver is indicated by means of a display device (25) of the speed control system (11) that the vehicle (3) does not comply with the applicable speed regulations currently and/or in the future.
