The invention relates to a method for operating a drive device of a vehicle (F) using a control device (101), with the steps: determining a destination (M1) to which the vehicle (F) is expected to be moved; determining whether a charging station (M1L1) suitable for the vehicle (F) will presumably be available at the destination (M1) and, if a charging station (M1L1) suitable for the vehicle (F) will presumably be available at the destination (M1); determining the maximum energy quantity (EMmax) that can be transferred to the energy storage unit (190) at the charging station (M1L1); and controlling a state of charge of the energy storage unit (190) so that the energy quantity (EMmax) can be received by the energy storage unit (190) at the charging station (M1L1).
