DISPLAY APPARATUS FOR VEHICLES, IN PARTICULAR FOR COMMERCIAL VEHICLES

The present application relates to a display device for displaying a reproduction image to be provided to the driver of a vehicle (10), in particular a commercial vehicle. The display device has a detection device that can be attached to the vehicle (10) and is designed to detect at least a part of the immediate vehicle surroundings (30) and to generate signals corresponding to the detected part of the immediate vehicle surroundings (30), a calculation unit that is designed to receive the signals generated by the detection device, to detect obstacles (40 - 46) in the detected immediate vehicle surroundings (30) and to generate a reproduction image (20, 20a - 20d) that has the vehicle (10) in a stylized or symbolic representation and the obstacle (40 - 46) detected in the immediate vehicle surroundings (30) in a stylized or symbolic representation and in relative position to the vehicle (10), and a reproduction unit that is designed to display the reproduction image (20, 20a - 20d) generated by the calculation unit inside the vehicle (10) in a manner visible to the driver.
