The invention relates to a flywheel storage device (1) with a flywheel (2) and an electrical synchronous reluctance machine (3) containing a rotor (4), a stator (5), and a housing (6), wherein the rotor (4) is formed by an electromagnetically active laminated core (7). To achieve a flywheel storage device (1) that is as compact as possible and simply constructed, particularly for use in vehicles that are subjected to frequent braking and starting maneuvers, it is provided that the flywheel (2) is formed by an electromagnetically passive laminated core (8) arranged on at least one side, preferably on both sides, of the electromagnetically active laminated core (7) of the rotor (4) of the electrical synchronous reluctance machine (3) within the housing (6).
