The invention relates to a vehicle pneumatic tire with a tread comprising at least one wear indicator (5; 15) which extends in a circumferential groove (1) and is composed of indicator parts (6, 7, 8; 16, 17, 18) of differing heights, whose heights (h1, h2, h3; h4, h5, h6) are determined in the radial direction from the deepest point of the circumferential groove (1), wherein the indicator parts (6, 7, 8; 16, 17, 18) have symbols which, viewed from above, provide written information that changes as the tread wears. The symbols of the indicator parts (6, 7, 8; 16, 17, 18) provide information about driving characteristics that change with the profile depth of the vehicle pneumatic tire.
