A pneumatic tire 2 is provided which allows generation of tread separation to be reduced while allowing improvement of grip performance to be achieved. [0002] The tire 2 includes a tread 4 and a reinforcing layer 12. The reinforcing layer 12 is disposed inward of the tread 4 in a radial direction and layered over a carcass 10. The tread 4 includes a cap layer 18 and a base layer 20. In the radial direction, the cap layer 18 is layered over the base layer 20, and the base layer 20 is layered over the reinforcing layer 12. The cap layer 18 contains a liquid polymer obtained by a styrene-butadiene copolymer being hydrogenated. The base layer 20 has a thickness that is greater than 0.3 mm. A loss compliance of the base layer 20 measured at 100°C is greater than or equal to 0.080 MPa, and not greater than 0.13 MPa. The base layer 20 does not contain the liquid polymer.
