In particular, the invention relates to an illumination device and a method for providing orientation information regarding the spatial area, a passenger transport means having such an illumination device, an electronic terminal device for interaction with the illumination device and for outputting output data based on the orientation information, and a computer program for execution on the mobile electronic terminal device. The illumination device has at least one light source and a modulation device for modulating the light emitted by the light source. The modulation device is configured to impress data onto the light emitted by the light source by means of modulation, which data contain a unique identifier of the illumination device or indicate a spatial position of the illumination device within the limited spatial area. By means of the terminal device, this modulated light can be received and the data impressed thereon can be recovered and processed together with reference data to provide guidance information that can be output at the terminal device for person guidance in the limited spatial area.",
