The invention relates to a method for controlling a ground transport vehicle (5) traveling on a roadway, the roadway comprising, in a direction of travel of the ground transport vehicle, a zone with external power supply adjacent to a zone without external power supply to be traveled with an onboard power supply device, the zone with external power supply comprising a ground-based external power supply device (3) provided with a plurality of power supply segments (7, 9) arranged sequentially in the direction of the roadway, the ground transport vehicle comprising at least one pickup means (50, 52) suitable to be brought into contact with a power supply segment on one hand and to be electrically connected with at least one traction motor (56) on the other hand, the ground transport vehicle further comprising an onboard power supply device (58) suitable to be electrically connected to the or each traction motor.
