HYDRODYNAMIC RETARDER
DRIVE
March 9, 2016
A hydrodynamic retarder (2) comprises a rotor (14) having rotor blades (24) and a stator (6) having stator blades (26), wherein a chamfer (46, 56) of the blade edge (60, 66) is provided on at least one rotor blade (24) and at least one stator blade (26). Upon rotation of the rotor (14), a suction side and a pressure side form at the blades (24, 26). The blades (24, 26) have a radially outer region (74) distant from a rotation axis (80) of the rotor (14) and a radially inner region (72) closer to the rotation axis (80). The stator (6) has the chamfer (56) of the at least one stator blade (26) on the suction side in the radially outer region (74) and on the pressure side in the radially inner region (72), while the rotor (14) has the chamfer (46) of the at least one rotor blade (24) on the pressure side in the radially outer region (74) and on the suction side in the radially inner region (72).
