"textContent": "2.1 With the aid of computer programs, the electronic immobilizer of vehicles can be deactivated via the standardized OBD-II connector inside the vehicle, the engine can be started and the vehicle can be moved. By contrast, factory-installed alarm systems provide no protection. Via the OBD-II interface, exhaust values can furthermore be manipulated and control data can be altered, since access to the entire on-board electronics is possible. 2.2 The OBD II Diagnosis Read and Write Protection prevents motor vehicle thefts through access to the on-board electronics via the On-Board Diagnosis connector through color standardization of cables and individualized cable redistribution, including replacement of the OBD-II connector on the vehicle. This involves a coupling between the factory-installed OBD-II connector and the vehicle. The OBD II Diagnosis Read and Write Protection prevents unauthorized access to the vehicle electronics via the diagnostic interface in the vehicle interior. 2.3 Protection of vehicles against theft through unlocking of the electronic immobilizer and ignition of the engine via the OBD-II interface as well as protection against manipulation of vehicle electronics (software, control unit, etc.) is ensured. 3. Overall view of the method for protecting vehicles against manipulation and theft through access to the factory-standard OBD-II interface",
