The invention relates to an accident data recording device (20) for a vehicle, wherein the accident data recording device (20) is designed to detect signals and/or to receive signals transmitted via an interface (23, 24) and comprises means for storing (21, 22) the detected and/or received signals and means for analyzing the detected and/or received signals in order to detect an accident situation, wherein the accident data recording device (20) is designed for integration into a steering column module (10). The invention further relates to a steering column module (10) for a vehicle, which comprises an accident data recording device (20), in particular an accident data recording device (20) as described above.
