According to an embodiment, an energy management system manages energy of a customer, including a connector connected to a vehicle including an on-vehicle battery and capable of sending/receiving power to/from the on-vehicle battery, and a power generation unit. The energy management system includes an estimation unit, a creation unit, and a control unit. The estimation unit estimates a demand of the customer to obtain a demand estimated value, and estimates the power production amount of the power generation unit to obtain a production amount estimated value. The creation unit creates a discharge strategy capable of maximizing a value obtained by subtracting an electricity purchase loss from an electricity selling profit using the push up effect of a sold electricity amount by discharge of the on-vehicle battery based on the demand estimated value and the production amount estimated value under a constraint for use of the on-vehicle battery. The control unit controls discharge of the on-vehicle battery based on the actual value of the demand, the actual value of the production amount, and the discharge strategy.
