According to the invention, the occupant protection device has an actuating unit (23) with which, at an unchanged steering angle (±) of the vehicle wheels (11), the steering wheel (9) is rotatable from the rotational position (D) into a crash position (C), in which the airbag (15) is aligned relative to the driver position.
