"textContent": "The invention relates to a method for adjusting at least one target speed for controlling the speed of a vehicle, wherein the speed control comprises a driver desired speed control and a braking speed control. The driver desired speed control sets a first target speed v_soll1 via a drivetrain of the vehicle, wherein the first target speed v_soll1 is determined as a function of a selected driver desired speed v_tempopilot. The braking speed control sets a second target speed v_soll2 via a braking device of the vehicle, wherein the second target speed v_soll2 is related to the driver desired speed v_tempopilot via an offset value Δ. The method further comprises the steps of: providing a topography of a driving route as topography data; pre-calculating a speed profile of the vehicle as a function of the topography data for a predetermined ahead lying route section of the driving route and of a current speed (v_ist) of the vehicle; and reducing the second target speed v_soll2 to a value below a speed limit (v_krit), if the pre-calculated speed profile shows that the vehicle speed with a braking speed control with the original value of v_soll2 remains continuously above the speed limit (v_krit) for longer than a predetermined overshoot time duration (t_max).",
