"textContent": "In a shifting device (10) for a vehicle, a control lever (16) is mounted in a base member (18) while a pair of flat surfaces (38a, 38b) of a rotary shaft (28) having a smaller interval than that of a pair of guide holes (40a, 40b) are opposed to the pair of guide walls (40a, 40b), so that the rotary shaft (28) is received by the bearing surface (34). In a rotating angle range of the control lever (16) corresponding to shifting positions between a shifting position (P) and a shifting position (M) of a shift lever (12), one flat surface (38a) of the pair of flat surfaces (38a, 38b) is located between a pair of end edges at the circumferentially opposite ends of the partially cylindrical bearing surface (34); therefore, no clearance S is produced between the flat surface (38a) and the bearing surface (34), within the rotating angle range of the control lever (16), and foreign matters are prevented from getting caught.",
