In order to reduce the shift paths of such steering wheel shift devices (1) for triggering shift operations in a vehicle, it is proposed that the steering wheel shift device (1) has a shift rocker (8) on which the movable contact part (4) is arranged and which is adjustable by the shift paddle (13) from its initial position, in which the movable contact part (4) assumes its rest position, into its operating position, in which the movable contact part (4) assumes its switch position.",
