Illumination device of a motor vehicle

The present invention relates to a lighting device (10) of a motor vehicle. The lighting device (10) comprises: - a housing (12) in which at least one light module (18) for generating at least one light distribution is arranged, - a connection element (42) arranged on the housing (12) and accessible from the outside for receiving a connector element (40), via which lines (32; 36) for power supply and/or for controlling the at least one light module (18) are connected, and - a control device (26) with electrical and/or electronic components for implementing a control device function for operating the at least one light module (18). In order to realize a particularly compact and lightweight lighting device (10), electronic and/or electrical components for implementing at least a part of the control device function are integrated in the connector element (40).
