For functional testing of an arrangement for dynamic fuel consumption measurement, at least two reference flow rates are generated through successive operation of a system pump (6) provided anyway for controlled fuel flow at different frequencies, and the gradient determined from the different reference measured values ascertained thereby is compared with the known gradient of the characteristic curve of the system pump (6).
