  "textContent": "The invention relates to a method for assisting a driver of a motor vehicle, in particular a commercial vehicle, during a lane change, comprising a monitoring device (3) by means of which vehicles (43, 53) located in the vicinity of the motor vehicle (1) on at least one lateral lane (41, 51, 59) adjacent to a lane (39, 49, 57) of the motor vehicle (1) are detected, a turn signal indicator (11) operable by the driver by means of which the driver announces his intention to perform a lane change to a lateral lane (41, 51, 59), a lane change detection device (9) for detecting a lane change of the motor vehicle (1) to a lateral lane (41, 51, 59), and a signal output device (7) for outputting a first and a second warning signal (17, 19) to the driver, wherein the first warning signal (17) is output when at least one vehicle (43, 53) is detected by the monitoring device (3) on a lateral lane (41, 51, 59) and the driver operates the turn signal indicator (11) such that he announces a lane change to this lateral lane (41, 51, 59), and wherein the second warning signal (19) is output when at least one vehicle (43, 53) is detected by the monitoring device (3) on a lateral lane (41, 51, 59), the driver operates the turn signal indicator (11) such that he announces a lane change to this lateral lane (41, 51, 59), and furthermore a lane change to this lateral lane (41, 51, 59) is detected by means of the lane change detection device (9).",
