The invention further relates to a method for developing, optimizing and/or testing hybrid energy storage devices. The system comprises a test arrangement and a simulation device. The test arrangement comprises an emulator of a hybrid energy storage device which is connected to the driving operation emulator for energy absorption and/or energy delivery, comprising: a first energy storage emulator (2), at least one second energy storage emulator (3) and a power electronics unit (4), by means of which energy can be supplied to the first (2) and the at least one second energy storage emulator (3) and by means of which energy can be extracted from the first (2) and the second (3) energy storage emulator. The energy storage emulators (2, 3) are each configurable to emulate, through a variation of energy storage parameters, different classes of energy storage devices and/or different operating states of an energy storage device. A control device (5) is designed to control the power electronics unit (4), wherein the control device (5) is configurable to carry out different control methods. The simulation device (6) is designed to simulate the operation of hybrid energy storage devices by means of the test arrangement for various configurations of the control device (5) and/or various energy storage parameters.",
