Method for setting a collision protection system of a vehicle

The present disclosure relates to a method for setting a collision protection system (12) of a vehicle (10), the method comprising: a) determining a road information object (16, 18) in a selectable region (20) in front of the vehicle (10), b) determining a living being probability based on the road information object (16, 18), c) adjusting a selectable fire interval of an evaluation algorithm of the collision protection system (12) utilizing the determined living being probability, the fire interval being used for activating a protection means (40, 42) of the collision protection system (12). In particular, the method may be used for setting a collision protection system, wherein the living being is a vulnerable road user, the living being probability is a person probability and the protection means is a vulnerable road user protection means. The disclosure further relates to the collision protection system (12).
