Self-propelled, preferably single-axle, motor-driven work machine (1) for transporting and/or driving municipal or agricultural work implements attached to an attachment device (2), with a drive motor (4) fastened to a machine or chassis frame (3) and a drive axle (7) hydraulically driven by the latter, protruding on both sides of the machine or chassis frame (3) and transversely to the direction of travel (F), which has on each end a wheel (8, 9) connected to a drive shaft (12, 13), and on the operator side connected to the machine or chassis frame (3) with handlebar arms (20, 21) for manual steering of the work machine (1) and for arrangement of an actuating element (22) for operating and controlling the drive units (18, 19) respectively assigned to the wheels (8, 9) of the drive axle (7), formed from controllable hydraulic pump (14, 15) and hydraulic motor (16, 17), wherein the hydraulic pump (14, 15) connected to the actuating element (22) for control has an adjustment device (29) which is adjustably and settably coupled to a control shaft (32) mounted in a frame (31) arranged pivotably on the machine or chassis frame (3) about an axis (30) directed approximately perpendicular to the ground.
