The invention relates to a control module for controlling a pivoting movement of a trailer hitch (16) of a motor vehicle, which is movable by means of a motor (15) fully automatically from a rest position into a working position and vice versa, comprising a control device (6) which, during a pivoting movement of the trailer hitch (16), measures pivoting parameters that can be specified with a measuring device (7) and outputs signals (9) corresponding to the measurement result, which signals (9) are compared by a comparison device (8) with specifiable target values (10) and, in the event that the target values (10) are exceeded, terminates the pivoting movement of the trailer hitch (16), as well as with a control element (2) that can be operated exclusively by the user, whose manual actuation causes the trailer hitch (16) to return to the initial starting position.
