ELECTRONIC DEVICE AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING POWER SUPPLY OF ELECTRONIC DEVICE

An electronic device according to various embodiments comprises: a universal serial bus (USB) interface for configuration channel (CC) communication with an external device; a power management IC (PMIC) for power control of the electronic device; and a processor operatively connected to the USB interface and the PMIC. The processor is configured to: control to transmit a first command, requesting unique identification information, to the external device via the USB interface based on the external device being connected via the USB interface; recognize the external device as a power supply device, for supplying power to the electronic device, on the basis of the unique identification information received from the external device; and control to transmit a second command, instructing rebooting of the external device, via the USB interface based on the electronic device including a battery and being powered off, and not transmit the second command to the external device based on the electronic device not including a battery and being powered off.
