Method for determining the performance of an axle

The invention relates to a method for determining an actually traveled distance B, D of a liftable axle (12, 14) in a vehicle, in particular in a trailer vehicle (10), with a vehicle odometer as a device for detecting a traveled distance A of the vehicle. According to the invention, the following steps are provided: a) the liftable axle (12, 14) is monitored for its status, namely whether the axle is "raised" or "lowered", b) intermittent counting along with the vehicle odometer, ba) as long as the liftable axle (12, 14) is "lowered", in order to determine the distance B actually traveled by the liftable axle, or bb) as long as the liftable axle (12, 14) is "raised", for determining a distance C, whereby the distance C is subtracted from the distance A of the vehicle in order to determine the distance D actually traveled by the liftable axle.
