Lockable folding seat

A passenger seat (1) comprises a backrest (2), a seating surface (3) positioned opposite the backrest (2) and pivotable about a rotation axis (5) between an essentially horizontal use position and an essentially vertical rest position, and a locking device (6) having a locking element (7) for locking the seating surface (3) in its rest position. The locking device (6) is controllable from a position remote from the passenger seat (1) in order to bring the locking element (7) into its position locking the seating surface (3) in its rest position.
