Provided is a controller (120) for a vehicle (100), configured to determine a take-off intent, and, in response to determining the take-off intent, i) initiate a release of a brake (142, 144) for at least one wheel or wheel axle of the vehicle, and ii) inhibit an application of propulsion torque (162) to the at least one wheel or wheel axle during a finite time period (TR) related to a time required for releasing the brake. Provided is also an automated brake-release system including such a controller, a vehicle, a method, computer program product and computer-readable storage medium.
