A vehicle drive device which can reduce occurrence of shock associated with engagement of a clutch after speed change at a vehicle provided with a manual transmission and the clutch is provided. The device includes a speed change target engine torque calculation portion, in a case where the clutch (3) is not in a completely-engaged state, calculating a target engine torque (Tet) at a speed change at the manual transmission (4) on the basis of a clutch torque (Tc) obtained by a clutch torque obtaining portion (54) and on the basis of a rotation speed of an input shaft (41) after completion of the speed change, and an engine control portion (10) controlling an engine (2) to achieve the target engine torque (Tet) in a case where the clutch (3) is not completely engaged.
