Starting mechanism for a motor vehicle comprising an ignition mechanism, a programmable ignition key, and a detector for alcohol and/or drugs, wherein the ignition mechanism is configured to be started by the ignition key when the detector for alcohol and/or drugs provides a result below a threshold value, characterized in that the programmable ignition key has an adjustable identifier that disables the detector for alcohol and/or drugs and permits the starting of the ignition mechanism.
