INTEGRAL RAM AIR TURBINE STRUT AND GEARBOX

A ram air turbine (100) is provided that utilizes a one-piece strut (110). The strut (110) includes an integral gearbox section (116) and an integral drive section (112). Within the strut (110), a turbine shaft (126) and a bevel gear (128) engages a driveshaft (134) and a pinion gear (132), which transfers rotation from the turbine (100) to a generator (140). The strut (110) may be machined from a single piece of metal, such as aluminum.
