The invention concerns a retractor (1) for a seatbelt device comprising:-a frame (3) for fixing the retractor (1) at a vehicle structure or at a vehicle-fixed seat, and-a spindle (2) which is rotatably borne in the frame (3), and-a seatbelt (4), which is wound with one end onto the spindle (2), and-an electric drive (5) which drives the spindle (2) to a rotational movement when activated, wherein-the electric drive (5) is permanently connected with the spindle (2).
