Monitoring system

A monitoring system (1) comprising at least one vehicle camera (4) connected to a vehicle camera system (3) of a vehicle (2), wherein said vehicle camera (4) supplies camera images of at least one region of interest (ROI) in the vicinity of said vehicle (2) to said vehicle camera system (3) which is adapted to process the received camera images and to generate a video image if an object is entering the region of interest (ROI).
