The problem of the present invention is to provide a cathode active material which performs favorable discharge capacity. The present invention solves the problem by providing a cathode active material comprising a crystal phase of an inverse-spinel structure represented by LiM 1-x Fe x VO 4 (M is Co or Ni, and x satisfies 0 < x < 1).
