The invention relates to a fitting for a metal-sealing connection with at least one metallic tube, with a fitting base body (54) made of metal and with a compression sleeve (56, 58). The object of specifying a fitting which enables compression in a simple manner transverse to the receiving area axis and at the same time enables a reduction in workpiece size, in particular fitting size, is achieved in that the fitting base body (54) has a cylindrical sleeve (82, 84) with an inner diameter adapted to the outer diameter of the tube (80) to be connected and a cylindrical edge, wherein the compression sleeve (56, 58) has at one end a receiving section (86) for receiving an end-side part of the sleeve (82, 84), wherein the compression sleeve has a pressing section (88) whose inner profile tapers in the axial direction to a diameter smaller than the outer diameter of the fitting base body (54), wherein in an initial position the fitting base body is partially inserted into the compression sleeve and wherein the inner profile of the pressing section is suitable, during an axial displacement, to fold the edge of the sleeve inwardly onto the fitting base body and to taper the edge of the sleeve to an inner diameter which is smaller than the outer diameter of the tube (80) to be connected. The invention furthermore relates to a method for metal-sealing connection of a fitting (50) with a metallic tube (80).
