DRIVE
June 24, 2015
The invention relates to a system comprising a reciprocating piston engine, an energy storage device (21), an electrical control unit (22), and a crankshaft sensor (23). The reciprocating piston engine has a crankshaft (3) that is mechanically coupled to a first electromechanical transducer (12a), wherein the crankshaft (3) is drivable by the first electromechanical transducer (12a) in an electric motor operating mode. The reciprocating piston engine has an electrically controllable variable exhaust valve control (24) designed in such a manner for at least one first exhaust valve (25) that the at least one first exhaust valve (25) is openable independently of the position of the crankshaft (3). The control unit (22) is connected to the crankshaft sensor (23) and an electrically controllable variable exhaust valve control (24) in such a manner and is designed in such a way that the at least one first exhaust valve (25) in an electric motor operating mode, in which the crankshaft (3) is drivable by electromechanical action through discharging of the electrical energy storage device (21), is open in a position range (28) of the crankshaft (3) in which the first piston (27) is in a compression stroke (29).
