An ignition coil (10) for delivering a spark-generating current to a spark plug (14) includes a magnetically-permeable core (16); a primary winding (28) disposed outward of the core (16); and a secondary winding (34) disposed outward of the primary winding (28) and inductively coupled to the primary winding (28). The secondary winding (34) terminates at one end thereof in a low-voltage end (46) and terminates at another end thereof in a high-voltage end (48). At least one of the low-voltage end (46) of the secondary winding (34) and the high-voltage end (48) of the secondary winding (34) is electrically connected directly to a terminal (44, 44', 50) through an electrically conductive polymer (64).
