A method for providing information in a vehicle (1), comprising the steps: - Outputting a fuel amount (L) in the fuel tank (10) of the vehicle (1), - Outputting a volume (V) of the fuel tank (10) of the vehicle (1), - Reading data (Dat) on gas stations (GS N ) from a database (210, 230), wherein the data (Dat) have an identification for each gas station (GS N ) and/or a geographic position (A) of each gas station (GS N ) and wherein the data (Dat) have a price (P) associated with the particular gas station (GS N ) for a fuel (G) for the vehicle (1), - Determining a distance value (D) for each gas station (GS N ), wherein the distance value (D) is determined from map data (MD), - Determining driving cost (CD) based on consumption (L D ) of the fuel (G) for the distance value (D), - Determining cost of fueling (CF) for each gas station (GS N ) based on the fuel amount (L) and the volume (V) and the price (P) of the fuel (G), - Determining total cost (TC) based on the driving cost (CD) and the cost of fueling (CF), and - Outputting a ranking (R) of gas stations (GS N ) based on the total cost (TC).
