The automatic stop conditions include whether or not a cooling water temperature of an engine reaches a threshold temperature as one of the conditions. It is determined whether a present operation condition belongs to an automatic stop control prohibition region or an automatic stop control implementation region, based on the deposit accumulation amount and the engine cooling water temperature. The ECU starts automatic stop control processing when the automatic stop conditions are determined to be established, and the ECU executes processing of starting energizing a glow plug section.
